58 days old!

The babies turned 8 weeks old on Thursday! We are so thankful that they are doing so well. Jude and Cadence are 4lbs3ozs and Aria is 3lbs4ozs. All three had eye exams last week. Most micro preemies have some stage of retrinopathy of prematurity (ROP) which is basically the retina in the eyes develop incorrectly. Well, thank God all three were at a stage 0 which basically means the eye doctor doesn't see anything yet. She wanted to follow up in two weeks so according to the neonatologist a follow up that far out means she is not too concerned. Even if they develop to a stage 1 or 2 it shouldn't be severe enough to require surgery. They have been on fairly low oxygen (21%-30%) since birth so I guess the higher the oxygen requirement the greater the chance of a latter stage of ROP. Other praises- Aria and Jude are now on high flow nasal canullas like their sister! Cadence is almost on the low flow canulla and when they are on that then they can begin feeding!! I'm really looking forward to that! That means there will be a light at the end of the nicu tunnel. Right now, I spend about 6 hrs at the nicu daily but when they start nursing, I will need to start spending the night there. I pray Noah does well with me there a little more but he is in good hands at home with dad and grandmas, plus the faster the babies learn to feed the faster they will be home and the faster we can begin the new normal. Next week will be Noah's last week of preschool because he cannot be sick and get the babies sick. It is pretty good timing for withdrawing him because he gets upset when dad drops him off. I must say that timing with the arrival of the triplets is perfect. Tim got a new awesome job last year which allows me to be a stay at home mom. Also, my mom and mother in law are at a place in their lives where they can help out a lot. Noah is also at a good age because he can be helpful but is not too old that he is outgrown of play interests that the babies will have.  It is also good timing because we found an amazing church last year that we really feel at home at. They have been so supportive to us and have prayed for these little people when they were just a few weeks along in my belly. They threw us a wonderful baby shower last week and they blessed us tremendously. Thank you! Thank you to ALL our friends and family for the constant prayers and support. We are getting anxious to take the babies home!

Romans 5:3-5

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

45 days old!

Just a quick update but this post will be mostly pictures of my beauties and handsome! Cadence and Jude are around 3lbs6oz and Aria is 2lbs9oz (creeping up on 3lbs, finally!) Jude and Cadee are on high flow nasal cannullas and Ari is still on the Niv cpap prongs. The babies are so incredibly amazing and beautiful. I am so proud of their progress. I am so thankful to the wonderful nurses and doctors who are caring for them. A nurse told me yesterday that so many nurses have signed up to be their primary nurses that the page has nurses names even on the sides of the lines where to sign up. She says it's because everybody loves our babies and us. We are so incredibly blessed! I want to thank everyone for the constant prayers! We know God is making all of this possible and that them doing so well is a complete miracle from above. Thank you to our wonderful friend who organized a diaper drive and collected hundred of dollars worth of diapers for us! Thank you to everyone who so generously donated. You have truly blessed us!!!

Diaper Drive- Thank you!!

Our Nicu does "Beads of Courage." Everyday each baby is in the nicu they get a bead. They also get a bead for every procedure, from a poke to check blood gases to procedures like intubation. It's amazing how many they have so far. The beads (pictures around their bears) is something they will have the rest of their lives. Pretty incredible.

Babies turned 32 weeks adjusted yesterday

The babies turned 32 weeks adjusted yesterday and will be 6 weeks old tomorrow. Cadence is on the step down with her oxygen so she is on a 3 Liter high flow nasal canulla. The doctor team tried to move Jude on it but unfortunately he started having spells and was working too hard so they put him back on the NIV CPAP with a very low rate. Aria is on on the NIV CPAP as well and is doing pretty well on it. Jude and Cadence are now 3lbs and Aria is almost 2 and a half lbs. Jude and Cadence are noticeably much larger than Aria. It's amazing the difference that half a pound makes! In other good news, all three are wearing clothes now and they look so adorable le swimming in their preemie clothes. Tim and I feel so blessed an lucky to have three beautiful babies. Thank you for the prayers for the babies! Please pray that Jude and Aria move to the high flow nasal canulla and Cadence is able to wean to a regular nasal canulla. Please pray that they are protected from illnesses (I am so worried about that respiratory infection outbreak that is sweeping the country). Please pray that my babies' holes in their hearts seal up. Please pray that my babies will not suffer long-term health problems due to their prematurity.
I would have been 32 weeks yesterday which was my "long goal" for the pregnancy. I found myself throwing myself a pity party yesterday and then I reminded myself that God is in control and I did the best I could and I was lucky to make it as far as I did. I felt very optimistic right after they were born and then at about 3 weeks old and the new mom/happy hormones went away and I started learning more about why the dings were going off in the room, I started feeling depressed. It lasted about a week or two and then I was able to give it to God again and I then felt better. At 5 weeks, the trio started doing pretty well. And now at 6, they are doing even better. We give God all the glory for how well they are doing. Thank you, Lord!
